This is the view from the 30 storey The Milton Residences tower, which will become the tallest residential building outside the CBD.

The $210 million development, currently under construction on Railway Tce, is the first major integrated Transit Oriented Development (TOD) to be released in Brisbane under the new South East Queensland Regional Plan.

Plans for the residential tower were submitted in 2009, and attracted hundreds of submissions before approval was granted by Brisbane City Council and the state government the next year.

Construction coincides with work on the Milton Train Station, where Queensland Rail has almost completed a $4.6 million upgrade to raise the platform to provide level access to trains, new stairs, improved shelter, lighting, seating and information displays.

An artist will add their touch to the platform from Monday.

Developer Aveo Group contributed $5 million to upgrade the Railway Tce entry.

Councillor Peter Matic (Toowong Ward) said Milton was undergoing a renaissance.

Total Property Group managing director Adrian Parsons said the final release of apartments was on the market.
